Jadeite Uncovered

In my new novel, The Color of Jadeite, there are a number of scenes in which Clive Allan and his sidekicks, with a sense of anticipation and wonder, uncover a new clue or old artifact.

That’s sort of how I felt when the package arrived on my doorstep and I, along with my family, unboxed the Advance Reading Copies of my new literary thriller.

Print and ebook ARCs are available for reviewers. Many will go on the adventure by reading the book—why not be a part of the adventure by taking it a step further and writing a review for publication in a review journal, magazine, newspaper, or website or for posting on GoodReads or Amazon?

If you’d like a free ARC, please PM me on Facebook or email me at edgewriter@gmail.com.

The Color of Jadeite is being published by Loyola’s Apprentice House Press this fall. Learn more at www.EricDGoodman.com/China.html.

New Book is a Literary Adventure Thriller

I have a new novel coming out this fall!

The Color of Jadeite will be published by Loyola’s Apprentice House Books this fall.

The Color of Jadeite is a literary adventure thriller full of intrigue, romance, treacherous villains, alluring clues, narrow escapes, and surprises around every corner.

Clive Allen, a suave private eye, ventures throughout China in search of an ancient jadeite tablet from the Ming dynasty. Along the way, he delves into the mysteries of China’s art, history, and culture.

Every bit as captivating as the treasure Clive seeks is the mysterious Wei Wei, an expert on Chinese artifacts who helps the droll detective navigate the most perilous pockets of Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and beyond.

With sidekicks Salvador and Mackenzie, Clive sets out to find the priceless artifact, outwitting their rivals at almost every turn. But between the fistfights and rickshaw chases, gunfights and betrayals, Clive’s deep connection with the treasure he seeks and his romance with Wei Wei force him to confront truths about his past and himself.

More details will be revealed as they’re uncovered at www.EricDGoodman.com/China.html.

Steve Himmer on Womb: Highly Attuned, Deeply Inquisitive Novel

Steve Himmer of Emerson College is the author of such novels as Scratch, Fram, and The Bee-Loud Glade. What was Steve's reaction to Womb: a novel in utero?

"Womb’s wise before his years narrator has a whole world to show us — our own — if only we, and his own struggling parents, can remember how to listen past the noise of our busy postnatal lives. He knows big things we’ve forgotten and he knows he’ll forget them soon, too, but this highly attuned, deeply inquisitive novel gives us a welcome chance to be reminded of what is always already there."

Nathan Leslie on Womb: Inventive, Tender, Remarkable, Scintillating Prose

Nathan Leslie is the author of nine books and counting, including Sibs, Madre, and The Tall Tale of Tommy Twice. What did Nathan think about Womb: a novel in utero?

"Leave it to Eric D. Goodman to have the imagination to narrate his latest risk-taking novel,Womb, in utero.  The point of view here is not only inimitable and inventive in its fly-on-the-wall approach, but Goodman’s novel also brings the goods in scintillating prose.  A truly tender, remarkable story.  You won’t read another novel like Eric D. Goodman's Womb anywhere."

Extreme Book Promotion Gone Wild!

For writers (and artists and musicians), promoting your work is important. If you write it they will read sounds nice, but it’s only the case with your core circle, or your tribe. These days, extreme book promotion is how to bring new audiences to your work. Go extreme, get their attention, and maybe you’ll find new readers that wouldn’t pay attention if you just put your words in front of them.

Halloween seemed a perfect time to go extreme with the book promotion. And April Fool's Day seems the only possibly appropriate day to go live with it.

But how far is too far? Maybe this is: dressing up as a pregnant woman for our Halloween party, to promote Womb: a novel in utero. Several times throughout the night, I went into false labor, only little advertising cards leaking out. Then, it happened: I gave birth to my labor of love—the advance reading copy of Womb.

Watch the Gif at the link below. Did it, or the picture above, get your attention? Is it a little too much? I’ll let you decide. If nothing else, it was a fun Halloween party!

Ragazine: Womb is an Entertaining and Provocative Read

Ragazine recently published an issue with seven new books worth a look, and guess what book topped the list?

According to Ragazine, "Womb, is more a novel of ideas than characters. The characters, indeed, often seem purposely to represent types, almost like the characters in Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, though the story is more realistic and less allegorical."

The review goes on to say, "Womb is an entertaining, provocative read that stays with the reader after he puts the book down."

It's a Book! Womb is born

Today's the official due date for Womb: a novel in utero!
The first day of spring is Monday, March 20. However, books (like albums) are traditionally released on Tuesday. So Womb: a novel in utero will be released on Tuesday, March 21.

Early readers and reviewers of Womb have called the book “engagingly original,” “strange and wonderful,” “amazing,” “a cocktail of all human emotion,” “brave,” “full of wisdom and goodwill,” and say that it “has a lot to say” and is “written with sophistication and poetry.”

Reviews have compared Womb to Ian Mcewan’s Nutshell and Emma Donoghue’s Room, and said, “Goodman rises to the challenge posed by the foetus’ limited perspective, relating a story of betrayal and domestic turmoil through the filter of the uterine wall.”

Discover the comfort of a warm womb for yourself. Order your copy today at www.EricDGoodman.com, www.Amazon.com, www.IndieBound.com, or at your local book store! If they don't have it, tell them they should and have them order a copy for you and a few for the shelves.

Learn more about Womb: a novel in utero and find out what others are saying about the novel today on it's release date at www.Facebook.com/Edgewriter and www.EricDGoodman.com/womb.html.

TBT: Weird Womb Photo Shoot

Standard author photos can be boring. Sometimes it's fun to do something creative when it comes to the author pics. For Tracks: A Novel in Stories, we had a photo shoot at Baltimore's Penn Station, taking images with trains and tracks behind me.

For Womb: a novel in utero, we went a little deeper.

This may be about as far back as Throwback Thursday can get.

Photographs below are courtesy of my wife, Nataliya. Welcome to my womb.

Release Date Announced for Womb

Merge Publishing has announced the official release date for the forthcoming Womb: a novel in utero. My latest novel is being released on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

Why Tuesday, March 21?

The publisher and I thought it would be fitting to deliver Womb during the season of rebirth.

Promoters say that you only need to repeat something three times for it to be remembered, so I won’t mention that Womb: a novel in utero will be officially released on Tuesday, March 21 again.
