Making Out in San Francisco

Join me as I sip tea with an old friend from Russia in Zen Valley, Explore the wonders of Golden Gate Park, and experience the hills and valleys of San Francisco. Chinatown, Grace Cathedral, and City Light Books are also on the agenda. Not to mention the Make Out Room, where I take to the stage in front of a beer-lit crowd.

It’s all a part of my continuing California book tour travel story being published in serial form by Atticus Books.

Stitches—Mend in The Potomac

Cooler weather has arrived, and that means hat season. So now is a good time to share my story, “Stitches—Mend,” published in the latest issue of The Potomac.

The Potomac is a literary journal of poetry and politics. “Stitches—Mend” is included in the “Quicktions” section, right under a story by Clarinda Harriss.
“Stitches—Mend” is a bit experimental for me, told in very small parts, and covering everything from appreciating one another, deaths in the family, seeing splinters in people’s eyes, and being grateful for the little things that really aren’t so little.

In the same issue, you’ll find fiction by Nathan Leslie, Nitin Jagdish, and even Roger Castleman as well as poetry by Shirley J. Brewer and Danuta E. Kosk-Kosicka.

Read “Stitches—Mend” at this link.

Check out the other great selections in the latest issue.

Bad Commutes, Good Sourdough, and High Art

It’s all a part of my continuing California travel story being published in serial form by Atticus Books.

In this fifth installment, I experience the worst commute ever before making it to San Francisco. It gets even worse when I’m not even permitted in prison. But things look up as I sample sea soup and sourdough in Fisherman’s Warf, take in some high and manufactured art, and venture across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Tonight's Historic York Inn Event Rained Out

For anyone who was prepared to weather the storm and come to our event at the Smyser-Bair House / Historic York Inn this evening, the event has been rained out.

York First Fridays is an event for which many people walk from one place to another. With 100 percent chance of rain and 40 mph winds, and some of the other event sponsors already cancelling, we and our co-organizers felt that there just won't be enough people to proceed.

The plan is to reschedule for the "York First Friday" event in November. Mark your calendars, and more details to come.

Stay dry!
