Silver, Beer, and Bones at Go World Travel

Last year, Go World Travel Magazine published my story covering a visit to Kutna Hora, not far from Prague, Czech Republic.

Go World Travel has been covering destinations around the globe since 2003. Focusing on unique destinations, culture, and people, Go World Travel Magazine subscribes to the belief that travel (even armchair travel) broadens horizons and increases understanding.

In this story, we descend into the silver mines of old, summit the hill crowned by Santa Barbara Cathedral, and explore the ossuary of 40,000 to 70,000 human skeletons before washing the day down with some local ale at a beer garden.

Share the adventure in picture and words. Read “Silver, Beer, and Bones in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic” in Go World Travel Magazine.

Extreme Book Promotion Gone Wild!

For writers (and artists and musicians), promoting your work is important. If you write it they will read sounds nice, but it’s only the case with your core circle, or your tribe. These days, extreme book promotion is how to bring new audiences to your work. Go extreme, get their attention, and maybe you’ll find new readers that wouldn’t pay attention if you just put your words in front of them.

Halloween seemed a perfect time to go extreme with the book promotion. And April Fool's Day seems the only possibly appropriate day to go live with it.

But how far is too far? Maybe this is: dressing up as a pregnant woman for our Halloween party, to promote Womb: a novel in utero. Several times throughout the night, I went into false labor, only little advertising cards leaking out. Then, it happened: I gave birth to my labor of love—the advance reading copy of Womb.

Watch the Gif at the link below. Did it, or the picture above, get your attention? Is it a little too much? I’ll let you decide. If nothing else, it was a fun Halloween party!

The Bell May Toll for You

Looking for something spooky to read this Halloween? Here’s a story of mine recently published in the literary journal Futures Trading that may just make your ears ring.

My short story, “The Bell,” follows a young artist at an artist colony. Everything at the colony seems perfect … but is it? Find out by reading “The Bell” in Futures Trading.

Want more? You can read “Small Talk” in a flash. “Small Talk,” about a road trip that goes bad for one of a pair, was published in a recent issue of Crack the Spine.

Finally, there’s “Zombie is the New Vampire,” published in The Potomac back in Spring of 2011. The Potomac is a journal of poetry, politics, and prose based along the banks of the Potomac river.
