Stitches—Mend in The Potomac

Cooler weather has arrived, and that means hat season. So now is a good time to share my story, “Stitches—Mend,” published in the latest issue of The Potomac.

The Potomac is a literary journal of poetry and politics. “Stitches—Mend” is included in the “Quicktions” section, right under a story by Clarinda Harriss.

“Stitches—Mend” is a bit experimental for me, told in very small parts, and covering everything from appreciating one another, deaths in the family, seeing splinters in people’s eyes, and being grateful for the little things that really aren’t so little.

In the same issue, you’ll find fiction by Nathan Leslie, Nitin Jagdish, and even Roger Castleman as well as poetry by Shirley J. Brewer and Danuta E. Kosk-Kosicka.

Family for Sale on Craigslist

Take my family, please!


I have offered up my family for sale on Craigslist. See the advertisement at the link below.

As a sort of joke (and to see what sort of reaction I would get), I posted my short fiction, “Family for Sale,” as an ad on Craigslist.

The short story, about a person who wishes he could just offer up his family for sale, was originally published in The Potomac: a journal of poetry and politics.

“It's a shame, when you think about it, that you can't trade in a family. Like a car or a girlfriend. Just put a family portrait up on Craigslist, make a few appointments, and hand over the birth certificates and Social Security cards.”

Zombie Fiction for Friday the 13th

It’s Friday the thirteenth; how about a little zombie fiction?

My short story, “Zombie is the New Vampire” was published this week in The Potomac.

The Potomac is a journal of poetry, politics, and prose based along the banks of the Potomac river.

“Zombie is the New Vampire” is what The Potomac calls a “quicktion,” or short piece of flash fiction. You can read it in a minute.
