Moonstone Arts Center Hosts Virtual Poetry Event

Labor Day may have passed, but there are still ways to celebrate (or bemoan) labor. How about a labor-themed virtual poetry reading?

My poem, “Pests,” is being published in the labor-themed anthology Which Side Are You On, available for purchase on October 1.

This Sunday, September 10, poets featured in the anthology will share their work in a virtual poetry reading. The event is free to attend; you just need to register.

Join me and a number of other poets as we share our workplace-related poetry.

"Victimless" in The Five-Two

I'm thrilled to announce that my poem "Victimless" has been published in The Five-Two, an online journal that publishes one crime-related poem each week. "Victimless" explores the lingering guilt and fear of a past crime through the lens of an adult reflecting on naive teenage years.

You can find "Victimless" and other crime-related poems on The Five-Two website.

My poem, "gulp" published in The Five-Two

My poem "gulp" was published in The Five-Two, an online journal that publishes one crime-related poem each week.

'Gulp' is more about the anticipation of crime than its occurrence, inspired by that recurring city situation of being approached for money.

New Poetry for the New Year

Looking to start the new year with some peace and quiet? Why not curl up by the fire (or stream one on your television) with a nice book of poetry? Or a few?

Consider my recent "Line of Thought" in Baltimore Style Magazine, with reviews of Elisabeth Spire's A Memory of the Future, Donna Masini's 4:30 Movie, and Linda Pastan's A Dog Runs Through It

If your head's spinning from holiday movies and binge-watching streaming television, slowing down with a book of poetry is just the remedy.

Start by reading my selections in Baltimore Style's Shelf Life.

Shirley Brewer Shoutout in Baltimore Style

Shirley Brewer, a Baltimore poet to be reckoned with, was recently interviewed in Baltimore Style Magazine about her new book of poetry from Main Rag Press, Bistro in Another Realm.

In the article, Jessica Gregg asked Shirley about the Baltimore lit scene. Shirley gave a shoutout to the Lit and Art Reading series, along side the Baltimore Book Festival, CityLit, and Passegers.

Not bad company.

Shirley can mix us a Manhattan, or a poetry reading, any time.
