Faraway Tables Reviewed on Barbara Morrison’s Book Blog
Barbara Morrison, author and literary blogger, recently shared her thoughts on Faraway Tables.
She writes that the collection “moves around in time and space” while paying attention to “seemingly ordinary moments.” Whether it’s a memory sparked at Baltimore’s Museum of Industry, a winding clock, or a cup of coffee, she explains, the poems explore meaning in the everyday.
Barbara points out connections to my earlier fiction and highlights some of the poems that stood out to her, including “Relics,” “Embracing Hermithood,” and “Dogged Memories.”
She also notes the way the poems take on recent events like the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, and even climate change and consumerism—with a dose of humor and wordplay in poems like “Dogged Memories.”
